Marc Hirschbein, M.D.

Hirschbein-Marc-91213Dr. Hirschbein attended Hahnemann College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his internship and residency in Ophthalmology at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.

Dr. Hirschbein is an attending physician in the division of oculoplastic surgery at the Krieger Eye Institute, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. He is the Director of Aesthetic Eyelid and Facial Surgery. He is an instructor at the Wilmer Ophthalmology Institute, Johns Hopkins University and has authored numerous scientific publications and book chapters. Current research interests include the control of wound healing after eyelid trauma, surgery or laser resurfacing.

Dr Hirschbein’s focus at AHEC is aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, orbits and tear-drainage system. His specialty training allows him to treat a variety of conditions, including: aging changes to the eyelids, droopy or “baggy” eyelids, ectropion and entropion (eyelids turning out or in), skin cancers of the eyelid, orbital tumors, thyroid eye disease, tearing, dry eyes and trauma to the eyelids and orbits. Surgical interests include laser eyelid surgery, minimally invasive eyelid surgery, “no-stitch” surgery for droopy eyelids, endoscopic surgery of the eyebrows and tear ducts and injection of Botox for the treatment of facial wrinkles.

Dr. Steven Winkler

dr-winklerDr. Stephen Winkler is a general ophthalmologist specializing in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at Apple Hill Eye Center.

Dr. Winkler graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed a surgical internship at Northwestern University’s McGaw Medical Center. Following his internship, Dr. Winkler completed a pre-residency fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery.  After residency at the Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD, he completed a two-year, ASOPRS approved, fellowship under James Karesh, MD and Marc Hirschbein, MD.

Dr. Winkler coordinates the Winkler Eye Mission, traveling with his father, Dr. John Winkler, to the Brenda Strafford Ophthalmologic Institute in Les Cayes, Haiti.  There, they teach Haitian ophthalmologists and perform surgery for the Haitian community.  Dr. Winkler volunteers his time with underserved populations in Baltimore.
